Malesia is a XerJoff one-off – a resinous floral with a fresh, green lily of the valley note floating over a smoky, creamy base of oud, vanilla, resins, and gums. The fragrance starts with a burst of creamy, white-green freshness – muguet in all its dewy, heartstopping beauty. It feels like you are smelling a thousand white and green petals crushed into one note. This is followed by the bright, smoky amyris, which acts like the topnote of a really fresh sandalwood, surrounded by the balsamic warmth of gurjum, with its faintly cinnamon-like spice. Underneath all this, an oud accord of thrilling precision and purity, full of dark, smoky shadows and menace, softened by the warmth of creamy tonka bean, vanilla, and a toffee-like labdanum. Incredibly sensual and warm, one nip of the precious Malesia won’t be nearly enough for real oud fans.
